http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/26/fuh-yuan-retracts-299-wal-mart-hd-dvd-statement/

Apparently, some taiwanese company got a little ahead of themselves.

the Wii is an epidemic.

yep.

 go BR!

Yeah, leading by not even half a million sales a month, and this statement, which does state that Wal-Mart is looking into cheap player options that do include HD-DVD, proves that blu-ray has already won, at least according to those like hus.

70% of the market a month kiddy.

to bad blue ray sucks. We will be stuck with a stupid sony owned format. This won't be good.

George Romero should do a film starring the HD-DVD .The Night of the Living Deads 2 ,for sure ....

if br ever wins and when, and hd-dvd is gone...watch out world.  the sony proprietary restrictions will take effect and everything in your home will become incompatible until all your home electronics is sony.

I don't see what all the hype surrounding a $299 HDDVD player is anyway.  How long would it take for them to produce the players and by that time anyway, your general players would be below the $300 mark anyway.

I thought it would have been more sensible to get a Blu-Ray player for later this year retailing at $299.  I don't think this pricerange it ridiculous seeing as production costs are reducing all the time.

Anyway...noone has won the HD video war yet...it close, but I would certainly put all my money on Blu-Ray simply because it has more backing.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Wow. Calling me kiddy, without even proper punctuation, has magically provd you right.

Pathetic. Two million total sales in the entire country is not a market; it's a niche. HD is still a niche, so a lead for either format means nothing.
