Does Nintendo ever post their Virtual Console sales each month? Because, I was wondering, doesn't the number of these games then go up? Don't these sales count toward their overall numbers? Like, SMB selling 1 mil on thr VC would take the total to 41 mil world wide?

I am Daemon. I am the Word.

I don't think VC sales (or other downloads) are included in VG Chartz numbers. I haven't seen any numbers from Nintendo so far and am really looking forward to the Annual Report for 06/07 regarding this topic.

So what do you people estimate for VC sales Nov 2006 to Mar 2007? My guess is

- 3 million VC games sold -

Or higher?

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Higher. They sold 1.5 million on 3.2 million consoles in just a bit over a month.

They will probably include total sales with their quarterly reports, but I doubt we'll get comprehensive game-by-game breakdowns.

And if VGC does get some numbers, they shouldn't be added to the existing totals, but tallied seperately.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I've bought about 13 VC titles already.

Let's say half of wii owners have internet connection and on average they downloaded 2 VC titles.

so 3.3 mill x 2 = 6.6 million VC bought since launch.

that'd be my guess for now. i wouldn't be surprised if it's more....alot more.

WiiFit will be 2008 #1 selling game in NORTH AMERICA!
End of '08 Predictions: Wii - 48m X360 - 25m  PS3 - 19m
Wii monthly NA sales will top 400k every month in '08. *Jan sales ruined it. Grrrr!*
WiiFit will top 1m in sales in its first month of release in North America.
MGS4 will NOT be released in '08. *Darn it!* FF13 will NOT be released in '08.
Rockband Wii will top 600k in first month sales in North America.
WiiFit will pass the PS3 WW sales by Xmas '09.

Well, I agree with you. I consider myself to be a stingy Virtual Consoler. I have only downloaded two games thus far. Streets of Rage and Galaga! And if I'm stingy it has to be much higher for the normal owner hooked up to the internet. I say at least 6 million probably more like 7.5.

Currently Playing: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Guitar Hero III, Ghost Squad, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Wii Play

I also have 13 VC games, and 1200 more points sitting there to be used.

Though, I do hope these purchases are added to the overall total. You're still buying the game, so you should be added to the total purchased thoughout history of the game.

I thought I read somewhere (IGN?) that the most downloaded VC game was Mario 64.

I have 10 VC games and i can't seem to stop... i think it's already around 10 M and it will grow very fast. i do hope that they'll release the total numbers (and a fool's hope, separate numbers per title)

If you're stingy, I must be a miser.  I've yet to purchase a VC game, yet I have 7 Wii titles.  I don't think VC sales are that high (good, but not very high) because I see VC purchases more as nostalgia things for games you liked or missed out when you were younger.  I pretty much ignored the VG scene as a kid because I couldn't afford it (lived on $5 / week in NY), so I don't really have attachment to the VC titles except as a curiosity. The only time I visited the store was to DL the browser

The cool thing about VC for nintendo is that its almost pure profit. They just have to pay some small fees probably to each developer or something, but its nothing like manufacturing games and sending them to stores.
