my take on this is good lord Sony is fucking dumb. Not only was their character just involved in the highest grossing film of all time (Avengers: Endgame), Spider-Man: Far From Home also became the highest grossing Spider-man film with $1B+ and the highest grossing Sony film ever. Literally all because of Marvel is the only reason this character has managed to shine again through all of this. Now they think they're hot shit and don't need them. Good luck with those other spider-man movies sony lmao, because that has totally worked out for you all the other times (into the spider-verse being the only exception).

the ending of Far From Home just makes this even more of a bitch lol, guess we won't be seeing a proper conclusion to that

edit: This was a pretty reactionary comment tbh and I think I was too quick to come to a conclusion before taking into account the entire situation based off the original article. While it's possible that Disney was just asking for too much for Sony to budge, and i'm not defending Disney if that's the case, according to the article it says that Sony flat out refused and didn't even try to make a counter offer. The fact that they didn't even at least attempt to come to a compromise or make a counter-offer is still stupid imo on their part after all the success that was given to them, but I realize there's probably more to it than that.
