Platinum games output has been very good for Nintendo over the last 5 years making Retrostudios look like a joke, on the other hand Nintendo has not invested much into popular western game genres like FPS, which seems odd they never tried to replicate the success of GoldenEye 007 (on the N64).

I think Nintendo must of made a decision to avoid making games with realistic violence ever since GoldenEye 007, Eternal darkness being the only exception i'm aware of.

Anyway wouldn't be surprised if this turns out true as gameplay is what matters first to Nintendo, so taking Scalebound's gameplay mechanics and re-purposing them is one of Nintendo's strengths

That game would have been perfect dark.

Yeah true, I had both games but I feel Nintendo stepped away from military shooters, with perfect dark being more syfy shooter and goldeneye more military shooter if that makes any sense. From what I remember is Nintendo weren't too fond of the violence in goldeneye, at least from some of the articles I have read about the Rare/Nintendo days.
